My Rental is Leaving From Comox Valley Kayaks:​​
Comox Valley Kayaks and Canoes is located adjacent to the Courtenay Marina at 2020 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay.
We are affected by the tides at our location and make decisions about when to launch to maximize enjoyment and comfort on the water. We navigate not only the tide but also the flow of the Puntledge River here.
A tide level greater than 2.4 meters (reporting at the Comox tide station) is required to send people out at the Courtenay Marina.
The best times are on a rising tide, which helps with paddling against the current in the river. Falling tides are tricky, and we want our guests to be back at our location before the tide falls below 2.4 m.
We want you to enjoy your paddle and be able to return within your 4-hour rental window.

I have Roof Racks On My Vehicle/s
For My Rental Pick-up:​
We take transport of our equipment seriously. For everyone's safety, roof racks on vehicles need to be manufactured for your specific vehicle and have the weight capacity to carry the load of the rental. After-market manufactured brands include and are not limited to Thule, Yakima, Rino Rack, Sportrack and vehicle-branded factory roof racks.
This is an important part of our process. Dismissive behaviour will not be tolerated, and for everyone's safety, we reserve the right to refuse service if a roof rack does not meet these requirements or is deemed unsafe for transporting equipment.
You bring a safe roof rack and we will supply the other things we need to transport our kayaks on a private vehicle. We will go through loading with you step by step so you can feel confident replicating the process on the way home.
To help us prepare for your arrival and ensure we have all the right transportation equipment, we will ask you to text or email a picture of the transportation vehicle/s roof racks to us.
The picture you send must be an actual picture of the vehicle; screenshots from the internet will not be accepted. Pictures must be clear and close enough to the vehicle that we can zoom in and see them.
We are kind and practical people. Our boundaries support our values of safety and environmental stewardship. We strive to expand our knowledge and we welcome respectful conversation.
I DO NOT Have Roof Racks
No worries, we have options!
Free of charge, CVKC will supply all the equipment required to safely load your kayak or canoe on your transport vehicle/s. To help us prepare for your arrival and ensure we have all the right transportation equipment, we will ask you to send via text or email a picture of the transportation vehicle/s roof racks.
Transportation safety is our priority, and we have many tricks up our sleeves from our vast loading experience. Dismissive behaviour will not be tolerated. We strive to expand our knowledge and we welcome respectful conversation

For vehicles with a naked roof or roofs with flush rails, we require a vehicle with 4 doors to have enough span between bars. The Malone Versarail system is limited to carrying only:

2 single kayaks

Limited to only a few of the tandem kayaks in our fleet

2. For vehicles with raised rails: We require the raised rail to be a rail that is factory-installed and is in good condition. Pictures will need to be supplied. The raised rail system can carry:

Limited supply of bars for carrying 2 canoes

We know that sometimes on a travel day, you don’t actually get on the water. To help get you closer to your launch destination for an early start, choose the 4 pm rental pick-up time. We will load and have you on the road before 5 pm.
Kayak and Canoe Delivery

Don’t have a vehicle or are renting multiple boats? We will deliver up to 12 kayaks and 10 canoes. The cost of delivery includes Drop off and Collection at the end of your trip.
To book, choose the time you would like to meet us at the location. Once you book our next correspondence will describe next steps. We will ask you to reach out to us via text message. We have found that establishing this direct line of communication through text or WhatsApp is a sure way to relay information clearly and in a timely manner to navigate any unexpected issues for either of us.
A few days before we will send you more detailed instructions regarding your delivery and we will firm up the collection time. This is an important part of the process and requires us to communicate with you directly.
We know the start and end times can vary, being in contact takes a lot of guess work out of it. We encourage you to create a WhatsApp delivery group with a few group members and ourselves.
