Rental Policies

Waivers & Arrival

Please ensure the online liability waiver is completed by all participants in your party. The waiver link is attached to your booking confirmation.

You’re welcome to arrive a few minutes early. Check-in takes approximately 15 minutes and includes:

• Completing waivers (if not already done)

• A safety briefing

• Proper fitting of equipment

• Launching from the Courtenay Marina boat launch, just steps from our shop

Your booking includes all required equipment to comply with Transport Canada small vessel regulations, including:

• Paddle

• PFD with whistle

• Throw bag

• Bailing pump

Before departure, we will:

• Review tidal and weather conditions

• Discuss on-water emergency protocols

• Suggest a route plan

• Provide a chart of the area with this information for you to take with you

 

Day Rental Cancellation Policy

• Cancellations made with 48 hours’ notice will receive a full refund or credit

• A full refund or credit will also be issued in the event of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances

• No-shows will be charged the full rental price

• Please contact us by phone regarding cancellations

 

Rentals Picked Up In-Store

Rentals picked up in-store and transported on private vehicles require clear communication with CVK staff. Instructions for this process are provided via email after booking.

• CVK reserves the right to approve the method of loading vessels

• Approved roof racks will be provided at no additional cost for vehicles without suitable racks

• Equipment details by vehicle type are available on our Equipment Page
   

Requirements

• All participants must complete the liability waiver before leaving CVK

• A Safety & Stewardship Conversation will be conducted at pickup

  • This includes marine safety and environmental responsibility

  • A summary is provided via email after booking

Multi-Day Rentals & Delivery

Delivery

Rental delivery requires advance coordination with CVK staff. Instructions are provided via email after booking.

• All participants must complete the liability waiver

• A Safety & Stewardship Conversation will be conducted prior to delivery

• A summary of this conversation is provided via email
   

Gear Provided

Includes, but is not limited to:

• Transport Canada–required safety gear

• Sprayskirt

• Spare paddle

• Sponge

• Paddle float
   

Multi-Day Rental Cancellation Policy
