Rental Policies
Waivers & Arrival
Please ensure the online liability waiver is completed by all participants in your party. The one waiver link in your booking confirmation email can be used by all participants. Once it is saved, it will save each person's waiver under your booking.

You’re welcome to arrive a few minutes early. Check-in takes approximately 15 minutes and includes: Completing waivers (if not already done)

A safety briefing

Proper fitting of equipment

Launching from the Courtenay Marina boat launch, just steps from our shop

Your booking includes all required equipment to comply with Transport Canada small vessel regulations, including:

Paddle
-
PFD with whistle
-
Throw bag
-
Bailing pump​

Before departure, we will:

Review tidal and weather conditions
-
Discuss on-water emergency protocols

Suggest a route plan
-
Provide a chart of the area with this information for you to take with you

Conduct a safety & stewardship conversation
Day Rental Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made with 48 hours’ notice will receive a full refund or credit
-
A full refund or credit will also be issued in the event of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances

No-shows will be charged the full rental price

Rentals Picked Up at CVK to Take Away

Rentals picked up in-store and transported on private vehicles require clear communication with CVK staff.

You must send a photo of your roof (not a screenshot) before your rental.

Instructions for this process are provided via email after booking.

CVK reserves the right to approve the method of loading vessels and cancel if they are unsafe

Approved roof racks will be provided at no additional cost for vehicles without suitable racks

Multi-Day Rental & Delivery
Rental delivery requires advance coordination with CVK staff. Instructions are provided via email after booking.
All participants must complete the liability waiver
A Safety & Stewardship Conversation will be conducted prior to delivery
