About This Lesson

Introduction to Kayaking is the perfect starting point for your paddling journey. The lesson begins with the fundamentals of boats and gear, then moves onto the water to practise essential kayaking strokes.

Throughout the session, the focus is on building confidence, control, and enjoyment on the water. Whether you are exploring calm stretches or venturing a little farther from shore, this lesson helps you build the skills needed to paddle safely and have fun.

Teen Camp is all about building confidence and skills for paddling in calm, sheltered waters. You'll learn the essentials of sea kayaking while exploring, making new friends, and gaining the confidence to paddle safely with your peers. By the end of the week, you have the option to earn your Paddle Canada Basic Sea Kayak Skills certification. It's the first step in an amazing kayaking journey! Ages 13-16

Kids Camp is for ages 8-12 and covers kayaking, canoeing and SUP.

Comox Valley Kayaks has been serving Vancouver Island paddlers since 1991. Lessons are led by instructors and guides who paddle, trip, teach, and support the local paddling community.

This local experience helps new paddlers understand not only how to move a kayak, but how to make better decisions around gear, weather, water conditions, and safe progression.
